The modified-car problem
Very few S15 castings are stock. Once you are buying drift-spec and widebody versions, three things change:
- A GT wing adds height. A tall swan-neck or bolt-upright wing can add 5–10 mm above roof height. This is the number that actually decides whether a case works, and it is the one people forget to measure.
- A front lip and rear diffuser add length. Usually only 1–3 mm at 1:64, but it stacks on top of the 69 mm baseline.
- Widebody arches add width. Measure across the widest point of the flares, not the door.
So the practical rule for an S15: do not measure the car, measure the silhouette. Longest point to longest point including any lip, and floor to the top of the wing rather than the top of the roof.
How to measure in thirty seconds
Ruler, three numbers: length front lip to rear diffuser; width at the widest arch; height from wheels to the very top of the wing. Compare those against the case's internal chamber — not its outer box size, which includes the walls, base and frame. This single mistake accounts for most cases that arrive and do not work. Lighting a silver or pearl car
The S15 is most often cast in silver, pearl white or light blue — all colours that depend on the light to look like anything. Warm light turns silver beige and kills the pearl entirely. And regardless of colour: UV is what fades the printed livery that makes a drift-spec casting worth owning. Look for lighting stated as UV-free.
